Editorial policy
Tarka Tales is an independent food writing blog about Pakistani cooking: recipes, technique guides and stories about the food culture behind them. This page explains how that writing is researched, sourced and corrected.
What we publish
Recipes, cooking guides and food-culture stories. Recipes and guides explain how a dish is commonly made and why each step matters. Stories describe traditions, places and customs, and are scheduled and published one at a time rather than in batches.
Research and sources
Factual claims about history, language, places and customs are checked against published sources, and stories list their main sources at the end. Where a practice varies between regions, cities or families, we say so and describe it as common rather than universal.
Recipes are researched, not test-kitchen developed
Tarka Tales does not operate a test kitchen. Recipes are written from research into how each dish is commonly prepared and are checked so that every listed ingredient is used, quantities match the steps and timings add up. Each method gives visual and texture cues alongside times, and meat recipes state safe internal temperatures. Our recipe methodology page explains this in more detail.
Health and safety
We do not give medical or nutritional advice and do not publish nutrition figures, ratings or reviews. Food-safety guidance, such as safe cooking temperatures for meat, follows widely published standards.
Images
Photographs from other sources are used only under licences that allow reuse, such as Creative Commons, and are credited beneath the image and on the image credits page. We do not use another publication’s photographs or recipe text without permission.
Independence and advertising
Editorial decisions are not sold. The site may show advertising, which is placed automatically by an ad network and does not influence what we write. Any sponsored content or affiliate link will be labelled clearly where it appears.
Corrections
Errors are corrected in place. See the corrections policy for how to report a mistake and how corrections are handled.
